Meeting with Vendors for Sime Darby Biodiesel Project
On 11th and 18th May 2010, meetings were held with two of Sime Darby's Biodiesel Plant manufacturer vendors, Lipochem (M) Sdn. Bhd. and Desmet Ballestra. Both of these have experience working with Sime Darby before. Lipochem has experienced in building current biodiesel plant in Golden Jomalina Sdn. Bhd. whereas Desmet Ballestra in Nuri North Port, Klang. The meeting between Sime Darby Biodiesel Sdn. Bhd., Engineering Department-Downstream Projects with these vendors is to discuss the proposed services offered. This meeting is important for us to know the work planning, flow process of the system propose, duration time and cost upon completion of the project, technology use in the system and etc. Both of these vendors have presented their presentation for their services.
Site Visit @ Golden Jomalina Sdn. Bhd.
On 7th May 2010, after the visit to Sime Darby Biodiesel Sdn. Bhd., I went to Golden Jomalina Sdn. Bhd., Teluk Panglima Garang, Selangor. The purpose of the visit is to observe and inspect the biodiesel equipments in the facility (vessels, storage tanks, piping, dozing tanks, pumps etc). The biodiesel plant in Golden Jomalina has seized operation for the last few months. The biodiesel plant was left abandoned. Sime Darby Plantation has decided to removed some of the equipments at the Golden Jomalina and to be relocated for a new biodiesel plant construction at Sime Darby Biodiesel Sdn. Bhd. Carey Island. The equipments in Golden Jomalina is mostly in good condition and have several corrosion on the piping system.
Meeting & Site Visit @ Sime Darby Biodiesel Sdn Bhd
On 7th May 2010, a meeting was held at Sime Darby Biodiesel Sdn. Bhd.,Carey Island. The meeting was attended by the operation engineers from Sime Darby Biodiesel and Engineering Department-Downstream Project. The purpose of the meeting is to consult and assist the biodiesel engineers in decision on building and upgrading new biodiesel plant in the facility. Earlier, Sime Darby Biodiesel has produced biodiesel from RBDPO with their current plant. They have decided to build a new plant facility that can produce biodiesel using new a feedstock, CPO. The use of CPO will profit the company because of the resource availability from the palm oil mill and also the cheap price of CPO in producing biodoesel. It is a challenge for Sime Darby Plantation to maximize profit and to utilize new feedstock for biodiesel production.
My First Technical Clarification Meeting with Vendor
After the completion of the Tender Evaluation Report (Technical), a clarification meeting was conducted. The meeting was attended by Mr Alex Lim , Mr Mohd Zahiri, Mr Ajaimi Shah, Mr Mohd Ismail and myself. The purpose of this meeting is to clarify the services offered by Sistempak. Several discussion on the machineries, flow process, specifications and etc has been discussed in detail. This meeting is crucial in order to ensure and confirm the services offered will comply with the Client requirement.
My First Tender Evaluation Report
This report is a technical evaluation report for Alif Retort Pack Products Sdn Bhd project. This report consists of evaluation of food processing machineries offered by the qualified vendors, Sistempak Servicing Sdn Bhd, OKKE Engineering Sdn Bhd and Technamech (M) Sdn Bhd. The purpose of this report is to compare and evaluate the technical services from the tender proposal submitted by these vendors earlier. This evaluation is important for us to know whether the services provided by the vendors complied with the requirements needed by Client. Basically, Alif Retort Pack Products Sdn. Bhd. is a subsidiary of Sime Darby Plantation. It is a food processing and packaging factory for 'ALIF' products in the market. This company has requested Engineering Department-Downstream Project to assist them in purchasing new line of food processing machineries for the factory. In this report, Sistempak Servicing Sdn. Bhd. is the only vendor that comply with the requirements. Thus, after the successful evaluation of technical services, Sistempak will submit the 'Commercial Proposal' for price quotation by us.
